My Favourite Things (May 2023)

Namaste dear friends,

The last month has been intensely busy in my world. Generally, I avoid the word ‘busy’ because it’s easy to run around in overwhelm feeling and affirming the embodiment of ‘busy, busy, busy’ just because it’s our culture’s energetic normal. I prefer to think of my life as 'full' rather than busy. But … this last month there is no other word for it. It’s been freakin’ busy!

So let’s jump in. It’s a long list this month (sorry / not sorry). Here’s what I’ve been up to, starting with my biggest happy news, I’ve been:

SIGNING a book deal with my dream publisher! And I couldn’t be more excited. Affirm Press has literally been on my vision board forever. I love the books they create and I’ve coveted a signing with them for years. The book will come out in early 2024. It will be available in all mainstream outlets. I can't share too many details just yet but for now, I can tell you the focus is on TRUST. Trusting yourself, trusting the world, and trusting in a Higher Power. More on this to come.

OBSERVING my kids grow up as I rush through my days (while trying to slow it all down). My youngest is learning new words every day and has started walking. My eldest got his driver's Ls and started a proper part-time job which requires a TFN and the wearing of a lanyard!

PLANNING the future with my partner on a piece of land just outside of Sydney. We’re obsessed with shipping container conversions, caravans and small space configurations. This project will be a slow burn (because did I mention we are both pretty, umm, busy?!) but will be a getaway for us and a legacy for our children. It’s bang in the middle of a national park. Right now we just keep driving up to the land we’ve purchased and walking around in the scrub dreaming of a hot tub here and a yoga deck there (that’s me). Or a workshop here and a mountain bike trail there (that’s him). To be continued. But if any of you have done a project like this, particularly in a permaculture / sustainable way I’d love your tips and hacks.

SWITCHING from smoothies to soups now the cooler weather has arrived here in Sydney. This recipe is incredible. Talking of soup I’m also …

FEELING concerned about the cost of groceries. I’ve got a few systems in place to manage this which I’m planning to write a blog post on at some point (but just have to focus on writing a book first!) for now this is great. I love Jodi Wilson.

TALKING to lots of women one-to-one and loving working privately again. So much gold is uncovered in that intimate space. Group work is my bread and butter and I will always love it but there is something magical about the fast-track shifts that individual work facilitates.

WATCHING 'Alone' on SBS. I love this show! Mostly because I get to sit in my cosy lounge room, sipping a cup of tea with a nice candle burning feeling very warm and nourished and safe, whilst watching people struggle in the wilderness. It's the perfect recipe for abundant gratitude! I also love observing from an ayurvedic perspective and analysing the dosha types of the contestants. Watch the pittas whip up a shelter in half an hour (and then wish they'd done so more diligently when it starts to rain) while the kaphas spend two days contemplating the best spot. Observe the vatas daydream and happily pass their days in solitude while the pittas can't deal with being isolated. So entertaining!

DREAMING of India - we are almost sold out. Turns out I'm not the only one super keen to hop on an aeroplane and travel to the yoga's homeland in January!

READING this incredible book about Mary Magdalene (slowly, because I keep falling asleep when I'm reading it at bedtime), which inspired me to write this blog post. This is our book club reading in Bhakti Club for June, I'm so looking forward to the juicy conversations this one will inspire.

THINKING about gender. And creating a whole body of work around where my business stands in relationship to this massive and important subject.

BUILDING A BRAND with the help of the legendary Edwina Peden of Shakti Creative. Bhakti Business is coming soon. Right now she is shaping up to be Bhakti Rose's older, more grown-up sister and I'm loving hanging out in her space.

Phew! That's all from me for now. I'm off to do a bit more writing while the baby girl sleeps.

Sending you so much love,

Katie Rose x
