How To Use Essential Oils To Spring Clean Your Home

Essential Oils for Spring Cleaning Frankincense

I'm deep in the throws of lockdown / isolation with my kids and it's an interesting time to say the least.  I'm also just past my first trimester of my fifth pregnancy so enjoying a surge of vitality and some serious nesting energy is kicking in.  I'm decluttering and spring cleaning the house - clearing out cupboards and dusting all the hidden corners.  I'm also diffusing lots of essential oils around my home to freshen the air and blow away the cobwebs.  Here's my simple guide to how I'm using essential oils in my home right now:

In the kitchen:

✅ To clean dirty pots and pans the natural way, add 10 drops of Sweet Orange essential oil to your pots and pans and then sprinkle with a thin layer of warm water soaking for half an hour before washing as normal.

✅ Because the kitchen is such a popular hub in the home, it can often be the gathering place for germs and bacteria. The doTERRA On Guard Blend is the perfect essential oil for promoting a clean kitchen. This blend includes cleansing properties that are useful for keeping surfaces clean, as well as protecting the immune system.

✅ One of the fastest ways to freshen your kitchen and make it more inviting is to diffuse refreshing essential oils that purify the air while adding a pleasant aroma. You can add your favourite refreshing essential oils to your diffuser, place it in the corner of your kitchen, and enjoy as the fragrance fills the air.

In the bathroom:

✅ Peppermint essential oil, tea tree essential oil, and lemon essential oil can help get rid of bacteria, mould, and mildew. Try using one of these essential oils along with vinegar and baking soda for a squeaky-clean toilet bowl!

✅ Use castile soap or a plain natural body wash and make them magic with essential oils. Always dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil or base before applying to your skin (this makes them last longer too).

✅ Natural air freshener. Fill a spray bottle with one-half to one cup water and eight drops each of three different air-freshening essential oils. (I recommend mixing wild orange, sandalwood, and clove essential oils. Tea tree, eucalyptus, and lemon also make a deodorising combination.)

In the bedroom:

The perfect starter kit for a good night's sleep is the Bedtime Bliss kit from doTERRA. It's so good I built an entire online course about it (Rest and Reset in 5 Days).
This kit contains everything you need to get your sleep, nervous system and stress management back on track. For a limited time you can access this course for FREE.
