Namaste dear friends,
July passed in even more of a flash than usual and I’m surprised to be here at the end of the month writing to you when I feel like a moment ago it was June! This month I've been ...
Learning about … dyslexia. One of my sons got diagnosed recently (the diagnosis was a whole process in itself) and now I'm down the fascinating rabbit hole of learning all about this particular variation of neuro-diversity. Are any of you dyslexic? I'd love to hear about what helped or hindered your journey.
Listening to … this album on repeat. I also did some business planning this month (end of financial year) and I went back and listened again to this excellent podcast from my mentor Elena Brower, which although it was posted for end of year 2020 I found very helpful in planning the financial year ahead.
Studying ... Nischala Joy Devi's translation of the Yoga Sutras. My Yoga Sutras course starts on Sunday (there is still space for you to join us!) and I’ve been diving into this book with gusto. Honestly I was so, so happy when Nischala agreed to offer a free webinar for my community. You’re invited! It’s this Saturday at 8am. Register here.
Baking - this extraordinary chai cake. Yes, two of my favourite things in the world combined in one batch of deliciousness. I had been looking at the recipe for a while (I love Erin and she's recently moved into a renovated church in Tasmania so I basicially now #wanttobeher) but I couldn't justify using this much honey in a cake. Partly because it's expensive and partly because to me honey is liquid gold and should be treated with great reverence (thank you honey bees!). Anyway one of my sons saw a silly experiment on TikTok that involved honey and I let him buy some. Needless to say the honey experiment was a flop but it left me with a fair quantity of honey and the cake didn't disappoint.
Spending time … by the water. My partner and I have been enjoying lots of weekday, middle of the day 'dates' by the water (with little Leela in tow of course). Sydney is so beautiful.
Sending love to you and yours, Katie Rose x
P.S. I am in the process of creating a membership for you, my beloved community. I’m super excited about what this offering will be and have many ideas about what it might look like. Too many in fact! If you have 2 minutes to complete this survey I will pop you in the draw to win a hard copy (mailed to you in the post) of Nischala Devi’s book ‘The Secret Power of Yoga’. Thank you for taking the time to give me your feedback, it means the world to me.
