Relax, All Will Be Well

personal transformation Oct 11, 2022

One of my goals is that my work gives you permission to do things imperfectly and let go of the controlling nature that feels like everything needs to be 'perfect'. A dear student wrote to me recently about joining my brand new offering Bhakti Club and said:

I’d love to do this, but would feel bad that I couldn’t keep up. I’m a little hesitant to sign up, I’m just feeling overwhelmed and trying to get caught up on life. I’m coming out of a deep hole of grief, but trying to get my shit together.’

And as I read her words I took a deep exhaling sigh and felt into the energy she was expressing because it is also the challenge I so often face. They say that when the student is ready the teacher will arrive. I have absolutely found this to be true in my own life and have been blessed by wonderful teachers in perfect timing over and over again. Recently though, I’ve also been reflecting that the opposite is also true. That when the teacher is ready the student arrives. Those of you who teach yoga or ayurveda might relate to this. As our teaching skill uplevels so too does the calibre of our students and the impact of the work we are able to offer deepens.  Our students may also echo whatever is going on for us emotionally.  So much of my work has to do with helping busy women with lots of responsibilities manage their lives skilfully and maintain a connection to the Divine. The reason for that is that it’s what I’m also doing daily in my own life. And it's from this work that Bhakti Club was born.

Recently I wrote to my dear teacher Sharon Gannon (founder of Jivamukti Yoga) and asked her a few questions about a particular project I was thinking of taking on.  I’m sure she could intuit the tiredness and overwhelm in my email.  The words she replied with were pure medicine to my already strung-out nervous system. I’ll share some of them with you here:

Relax.

Krishna’s plan is always perfect. You are following His plan.

All will be well. In fact it IS well. God’s light shines within you always. Put your trust in Him. Chant His Holy Name. Continue….

With these words my dear teacher is reminding me to let go and soften.  To exhale.  To not feel that I have to do everything perfectly (or do everything at all!). It’s the advice I most need to hear these days and I know it’s wise councel for those of you reading these words too. So many of the women in my programs and offerings are feeling tired and overwhelmed.  What we often do instead of surrendering is hold on tighter when we’re under pressure.  The same thing happens in a yoga pose, if you find yourself wobbly in Tree Pose for example you might start clenching your buttocks or stiffening up.  It doesn’t help … softening into the ‘sway’ of the balance is better.  So it is with life, loosening up a little and dropping into grief or fear or overwhelm allows us to process these big feelings.  Letting go a little allows these strong emotions to move through us rather than getting stuck in us.

This is what my newest offering Bhakti Club is all about, and all my offerings at Bhakti Rose really. Holding Sacred Space that you can drop into.  Allowing and softening.

I do hope you’ll join us on the inside.

P.S. Doors for Bhakti Club won’t be open all the time.  I’m creating a ‘closed’ container for a community of women.  This is your limited window of opportunity to join us.
