My Favourite Things - New Year Edition 🐚 What I Loved About 2024
Jan 06, 2025
Namaste dear friends,
Happy New Year!
2024 was a huge year for me. Here were some of the highlights:
→ Renewed love of creative writing and poetry. For years I've written in the personal development and self-help genre but this last year a remembering of my love for poetry and creative writing opened up. I'm seriously considering starting to write a novel in 2025 about the women in my family line (my personal 'red-thread') the only limiting factor here is time. I'm also enjoying reading more novels and creative work, words create magical worlds.
→ A relationship break-up. I know this is not something you'd usually list as a highlight but honestly what this ending meant for me was and is a big YES to honesty and integrity. It involved me facing challenging truths and stepping through something not working out as I hoped. I watch many women in the middle-years of life sacrifice too much of themselves. I decided not to do this and I'm proud of myself for that choice. So much of what women do is anchored in guilt or a feeling of obligation. And I really think women who enter peri-menopause and elder years often end up bitter and resentful because of this. Women who feel resentment (and maybe even sometimes bend for it) but don't let it rule, end up giving so much more back later because they're not deeply angry with everyone.
→ Quality family time and healing relationships. Yes there was a break up, but I still have a functional, amicable relationship with my daughter's father (we had a Boxing Day lunch this year for her and her 'blended' brothers). This year also saw improved co-parenting with my sons father and always the ongoing relational work of parenting which is a time and energy investment at the top of my list of priorities every single day.
→ Activism and advocacy work. We started the year by raising over $6000 for Doctors Without Boarders and for 2025 have bigger, bolder plans for fundraising and activism. The whole Bhakti Women Summit 2025 will be oriented around this topic and all proceeds we raise will go directly to charity. As I've found a steadiness in my own income and businesses it's time to give back in all the ways I am able to.
→ Growing and deepening my relationship with my teachers. This year I felt the subtle shifting of my relationships with my teachers beginning to see me move more and more into the role of an 'elder' in the yoga community. My main teacher Sharon Gannon is mostly in retirement these days and her loving support of my work continuing to flourish and expand has meant the world to me. I've also been guided by Elena Brower and many other powerful women who keep me steady on this path. Being a 'forever student' keeps me grounded when I do take the seat of the teacher.
→ The most successful year for my business so far. I had more abundance in every way this year than I ever have and it was definitely up there as the most easeful and flowing work-wise. Running Bhakti Rose and Bhakti Business is among some of the most aligned work I've had the blessing to do in my life. Long may this continue!
→ All the hours of teaching I spend serving this community. Hundreds hours were spent this year with all of YOU and I couldn't be more grateful or more nourished by them.
There were other 'mini highlights', too many to mention. And so much to look forward to in 2025, not least of which is lots of travel. I'll be off to India this month (want to join us in 2026?) and the U.K. in May for a big family trip where I'll be taking my children to meet their grandfather for the first time. This trip will also coincide with the Jivamukti Tribe Gathering in Europe so I'll get to sit at the feet of my dear teachers in-person for the first time in many years.
I'm sending you all so much love and an abundance of blessings for the year ahead.
With great love all is possible,
Katie Rose x
