Welcome to Our Navaratri Cleanse
Here you will find the recordings and resources for your supported at-home cleanse specifcally designed for the autumn months.
Navaratri is a time of deep transformation, a sacred window where we align with the energy of the Divine Feminine and release what no longer serves us. We honour Shakti - the Goddess - representing purification, abundance, and wisdom. The first step in this journey is clearing spaceâinternally and externallyâso that we can fully receive the blessings of this time.
This 4-day Ayurvedic cleanse is an intentional reset through nourishing food, self-care, and devotional practice. Together, we will shed the old and create space for clarity, vitality, and renewal.
Why Cleanse During Navaratri?
Navaratri is a portal of purification. Just as the goddess Durga slays the demons of ignorance and ego, we too can clear out physical, mental, and emotional toxinsâwhether from food, habits, or thought patterns. Ayurveda teaches that seasonal transitions are key moments to recalibrate digestion, nervous system balance, and energy flow. This cleanse will support you in:
âď¸Â Purifying your dietâcutting out heavy, tamasic foods, overstimulation, and toxic buildup.
âď¸Â Resetting your digestion with simple, easy-to-digest meals like kitchari or whole food alternatives.
âď¸Â Releasing old patterns around food, caffeine, alcohol, and negative thinking.
âď¸Â Caring for your body with self-massage (abhyanga), herbal support, and mindful rest.
âď¸Â Aligning with sacred energy through devotional practices and deep inner reflection.

Goddess MantraÂ
This mantra is a prayer to Durga in her form as Narayani, invoking her as the ultimate auspiciousness and protector of the universe. It is often chanted during Navaratri and other festivals dedicated to the Goddess.
"Om Sarva Mangala Mangalye Sive Sarvartha Sadhike
Sharanye Tryambake Gauri Narayani Namostute"
The meaning of this mantra is:
"Om, O Goddess, who is the auspiciousness of all that is auspicious, who is the consort of Lord Shiva, who bestows every desire of one's heart,
Who is the refuge of all, who has three eyes and a radiant face like the moon, O Goddess Narayani, I bow to you."

THE HOLY MARRIAGE OF THE BEAN & THE GRAIN
Learn ayurvedic cooking using the 'bean & grain' principle! My beloved teacher Maya Tiwari taught me this method of meal planning and preparation and it has served my family for over 15 years. It's good for all the family from babies to teenagers (and adults) and it's suitable for all doshas. This is the solution for all your questions about how to 'do ayurveda' in the kitchen when you cook for more than one person. It can also be adapted to your own palette and ancestral food preferences (not only Indian food).

Thursday 3rd April 10am
Katie Rose welcomed participants to the cleanse event and shared mantras to bless and honour food. She emphasised the importance of mindfulness and gratitude in eating, introduced three Goddesses representing different energies, and provided instructions for the 3-day Ayurvedic cleanse based on eating kitchari. Katie also encouraged mindful eating, detoxification, and self-care practices, and encouraged everyone to share their photos of kitchari on instagram tagging @bhakti.rose so we can cheer each other along
Note from Katie: I'm so sorry the call ended abruptly. My internet just randomly dropped out!
Session 2 - Mindset Call
Friday 4th April 1pm
This session is not about willpower, but about wisdom. Itâs natural to feel cravings, resistance, and discomfort during a cleanse. Mindset is often the missing ingredient in Ayurvedic healing - not just what we eat, but how we think and feel during the process.
Ayurveda sees cravings as messengers - sometimes of imbalances, sometimes of emotional needs.
â˘Â Vata: craves warmth and grounding (often turns to crunchy/salty snacks).
â˘Â Pitta: craves stimulation or control (coffee, spicy/sour foods).
â˘Â Kapha: craves comfort and sweetness (sweets, heavy meals).
Reflection Question:Â What is this craving asking me to feel or face?
Journal on a recent craving and what it might be pointing to underneath.
Reframe: âIâm not being deprived - Iâm discovering whatâs truly nourishing.â
Energy Shift Practices:
â˘Â Kapalabhati to shift sluggish energy (if not contraindicated).
â˘Â Shake it out - 3 mins of free movement/dance to liberate stuck energy.
â˘Â Journaling prompt: What support can I call in this week - internally and externally?
â˘Â Cravings Tracker (log what you crave, when, and any emotional context)
â˘Â Support Toolkit: herbal teas, self-massage, oil pulling, mantra meditation, trashy TV or novel!Â
â˘Â Link to Bhakti or devotional practice to deepen purpose and alignment.

đż Final Cleanse Notes: Gentle Transition & Everyday Detox
1. How to Ease Out of the Cleanse
Keep it simple:
- Continue light, warm meals like kitchari or soups for a few days.
- Slowly reintroduce other foods - notice how they feel in your body.
- Avoid processed, cold, or heavy meals at first.
- Sip herbal teas (like ginger, cumin, coriander, fennel) to support digestion.
2. Everyday Detox: Clearing Space in Life
Your body isnât the only thing that holds ama (toxins or clutter). Let this cleanse ripple out into other parts of your life.
đť Digital Cleanse
- Unsubscribe from emails that donât serve you.
Turn off notifications and limit screen time, especially in the morning.
đą Social Media
- Unfollow accounts that drain you or spark comparison.
- Keep your feed uplifting and aligned with your values.
- Consider a short break to reset your nervous system.
đĄ Home Cleanse
- Clear out one drawer, shelf, or space.

Make space for what feels peaceful and nourishing - cherish your altar.
3. Pratyahara: Inner Calm & Clear Senses
In yoga, pratyahara means turning your senses inward - away from overload and toward peace.
Ask yourself:
- What am I feeding my senses every day?
- Is it calming or overstimulating?
- Can I choose more sattvic (peaceful, balanced, uplifting) experiences?
Examples of sattvic choices:
- Nature walks
- Calming music or mantra
- Fresh flowers or a tidy space
- Reading instead of scrolling
Celebrate Yourself
