Why Ayurveda? Why a Seasonal Cleanse?
I translate Ayurveda as “the wisdom of a life lived well”. It is an ancient tradition, closely linked to yoga, that teaches us to live in relationship with the rhythms of nature rather than in resistance to them.
We are not separate from the seasons. As the light changes and the air cools, as the days shorten, something in us changes too. Our digestion, energy, mood and sleep all change in this seasonal transition.
In autumn your body may feel stiff and dry, your mind busier, the nervous system slightly unsettled. A seasonal cleanse in Ayurveda is not about punishment or denial, it is about returning to the simplicity of warm food, gentle healing spices and (my favourite!) early nights.Â
When we simplify in this way, the body remembers how to balance itself.
This reset is an invitation to pause and realign with the intelligence of the season. It is a sweet return to rhythm.
